I have been training B Real for a little over a month now and it has been great seeing his endurance and stamina improve in such a short period of time. He is such a down to earth fella… we enjoy having him in our Fitness Studio and he is a pleasure to train. I am able to give him all kinds of crazy workouts and he takes on the challenges with no hesitation. I hope you enjoy my interview with him, he comes from a very interesting background and has alot to share. Look for more interviews to come!
*MY INTERVIEW WITH B REAL*
1) How did you get your name “B Real”?
I got the name from the friends I was running with at the time.. We were involved with gangs and the older guys decided to give me that name while writing it on a wall and it stuck.
2) How old were you when you became involved in music and how did you get involved in music?
I was maybe 14 when we started doing it for a hobby. Being inspired by RunDMC and others made me want to continue and I was about 19 years old when we got our break thru Sony music.
3) Why is health and fitness important to you?
It’s important for me to stay fit because of the energy it takes to perform from night to night. It is taxing on your body.. I’ve come to realize that the more fit you are the better you feel on stage ..endurance plays a big part in not feeling fatigued after so many shows.. And the other reason is that it’s just better to be in good health in general.
4) What is your best memory/performance of you and or your group Cypress Hill?
Best performance I guess would be the year we did Woodstock
5) Do you write your own songs/lyrics?
I write a lot of it but I share the writing duties with Sen Dog and sometimes our up and coming artist Young De
6) As a performer, what is your least favorite part of your industry and your favorite part of your industry?
Least favorite part is the time it takes you away from your family and friends.
Best part is I get to do what I love and get paid for it and it also gives me a voice to speak my mind.
7) Who would you like to perform with someday?
Willie Nelson
Core and Conditioning Training
9) What keeps you motivated to work out and stay healthy?
I was always into training and keeping active physically, plus the benefits of being fit makes performing so much easier….
10) How have you enjoyed working out with Jeanette from Extreme Results Fitness?
It’s been great! She takes the time to evaluate you and figure out where you need work and works with you in helping you get there. So far I feel my endurance getting better as we train and each routine is different.
